Description

The ruined city of Nalut is dominated by the Kasr Nalut, an ancient fortified granary of the Berbers, dating back to the 11th century and still in use until 1960. Nalut lies at the foothills of the Nafusa Mountains (Adrar n Infusen in Berber) in the Sahara desert.

I'm a big fan of Berber architecture - their style of design is very simple, yet complex at the same time. It's also very good at defense, too. The windows are so small, only the skilled archers could aim through them! Great photograph, by the way. I really should have mentioned that first.
