The Leaning Tower of Bristol

Temple Church, Bristol, was founded on a destroyed Church that had belonged to the Templar Order, who were disbanded, arrested and executed on the orders of Clement V in 1312. It was destroyed in the Blitz, on the night from the 24th to the 25th November 1940 (so yesterday, 74 years ago as of the posting date). Building on the tower was put on halt in 1390, when it was discovered that it began to lean alarmingly, but then, having waited 70 years for the outcome of the battle between gravity and the tower, the latter was completed.
